Mount Mercy University is a private Catholic liberal arts university located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, United States. Founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1928, the university spans approximately 40 acres and enrolls around 1,600 students. Its “Five Focus Areas”—Earth, Immigration, Nonviolence, Anti-Racism, and Women's Issues—are deeply embedded in its curriculum and campus culture. Mount Mercy is known for its personalized education, with a student-to-faculty ratio of approximately 15:1, and offers accelerated degree programs for adults. The university's athletic teams, the “Mustangs,” compete in the Heart of America Conference of the NAIA. In 2024, the university announced plans to merge with Saint Ambrose University while retaining its original name and independent campus identity.
