Overview

Southwestern College was founded in 1961 and is a public community college affiliated with the California Community College system. The main campus covers an area of about 156 acres, with more than 25,000 students in the county campus. It offers associate degrees, professional certificates and transfer courses, laying the foundation for transfer to universities such as UC San Diego and San Diego State. The campus has an aquatic center and botanical garden, and has 15 sports teams including football, basketball, and baseball. The school team mascot is the "Jaguars".
